(Gagné & Howarth, 1975)

Cavaticovelia aaa, sometimes known as the aaa water treader, is a Hawaiian true bug (order Hemiptera) and, more precisely, a troglobitic water treader (superfamily Mesovelioidea) of the monotypic genus Cavaticovelia.

Its specific name is the only non-obsolete English word (as opposed to an abbreviation or acronym) that consists of solely three A's. Due to this peculiarity, it is commonly known as the aaa water treader. The name probably derives from ʻaʻā lava, which is found in the caves where the animal lives.
